Desert Heart X Mini Tipi

The Conscious Heart Sweater was born out of a desire to be an eco-conscious brand. Over the years I hoarded scrap fabric that would normally be thrown away. Each sweater is unique and has a heart on the front as well as a smaller one on the inside that stitches through to the back. You can literally wear your love of fashion and support less waste in the industry with your Conscious Heart Sweater. Each heart is stitched onto a unisex oversized sweater. Which size you want is dependent on your personal style. Mini Tipi continuously supports Indigenous artists and their entrepreneurship with their royalty program to ensure they are equally benefiting from the design on a long-term basis. With this edition of the Conscious Heart Sweater, $5 from each sweater purchase will be donated to the Downie & Wenjack Fund. Inspired by Chanie’s story and Gord’s call to build a better Canada, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Their goal is to improve the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all peoples in Canada. 

The Mini Tipi collaboration is one of a mutual desire to make our fabric, even our scrap fabric useable. Many big brands don’t see their scrap fabric as anything but garbage, but we know fabric is not garbage. Mini Tipi makes gorgeous blankets, shawls, bags, and mittens, the latter of the two being smaller accessories that use up smaller pieces of their fabric. As those pieces got smaller though it became harder for them to use them, and that is when they reached out to me.
