LISTENING TO
Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter is everything I wanted it to be. Growing up country was all my dad listened to, lots of Johnny, Willie, Emilou, and Dolly, so I appreciate her nods to the singers and songwriters of earlier generations. She melds this genre with her style of music making an epic album.

READING

Farley was one of the first Canadian journalists to visit Russia at the end of the 60's and with his love of the Canadian north, he wanted to go north in Russia. He depicts his time there, the people he met, their immense hospitality, and their mindset of learning to live with the northern elements and not fighting against them.

WATCHING
I read this book years ago and was thrilled it was being produced for a TV series. He has to learn Japanese customs to survive, all the while he is being used as a pawn by Torananga's rise to power.
