I’m experimenting within the world of fashion, and life is just a constant wardrobe change

My name is Chris Berneck and I’m a 2nd year Fashion Communication Student at Ryerson University. I was born and raised in a small town in southern Germany, and moved to Canada six years ago. I’m a competitive figure skater and have had the chance to compete at many international competitions. If you’re already wondering if I can do those ‘jumpy spinny’ things, then the answer is yes. Last year I decided to join the varsity figure skating team at Ryerson University and ended up winning the OUA Championships. When I’m not on the ice spinning and jumping around I like spending my time on Pintrest while watching re-runs of Sex and the City.

With the school year having ended and summer fast approaching, it was not only time to rethink my wardrobe, but also to look for new and exciting opportunities within the fashion industry. While searching for internships I was lucky enough to be able to reach out to and meet Fashion Designer Carissa McCaig. I’m super excited to be working as her new Marketing/Social Media Intern and will be writing many blog posts in the next upcoming weeks to keep all of you up to date with the latest hustle and bustle. This means that you should definitely follow all of our social channels— Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (if you don’t already)— to keep yourself in the loop. I hope that all of you enjoy reading this fashion blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

    Vien Avec Moi & Copious

Are you still searching for that perfect fall dress or looking to start your holiday shopping early, stop by Vien Avec Moi at 1338 Wellington Street West in Ottawa and check out the Fall Collection Maple & Wool. I have admired this store for many seasons and their choice in designers is always the best of the best, so I am honoured to be among those designers they carry!

The lovely ladies at VAM will be carrying a variety of the Fall 2015 Collection and I am thrilled to be in a store that is paired with many incredible accessory designers to be styled with my pieces, including Krista Norris, who makes the most incredible scarves, perfect for pairing with your Copious dress for Fall.

These are the select pieces they will be carrying this season:

From left, top to bottom: Sofia fox dress, Mila quilt dress with faux leather insert, Victoria plaid dress, Alice quilt top with floral elbow patches, Maya fox dress with faux leather collar, Kaja quilt dress, Hilary floral dress

    The World is Our Oyster

A couple weeks ago the gorgeous and incredibly talented Brittany from Gloss Events & Decor launched her blog GLOSSED. To showcase her unbelievable talent she took her inspiration 'The World Is Our Oyster' and brought together many incredible artisans & vendors to create this beautiful photo shoot. I was honoured to create 3 custom wedding dresses for the shoot, inspired by champagne, pearls & oysters!

My designs were showcased at Whalesbone, located in Ottawa, combining the rustic setting with elegant accents. Inspired by the natural beauty of an oyster, golds, silvers, greys and whites bring out an urban vibe that captures the perfect modern wedding.

This gold gown channels old hollywood glamour with a fitted bodice and high-low hem. The natural waistline and cascading pleats are flattering and a touch regal, while pockets make the dress perfect for the practical bride!

Something blue for the bohemian bride. The high waisted flowing chiffon skirt and intricately beaded top make this perfectly comfortable for the laid back bride. That girl that wants elegance with comfort, this dress is your perfect dreamy ensemble.

Show off your personality in this black and white floral gown. The bold pattern of white flowers trimmed with black stitching is the perfect pattern for the bride who wants to be completely unique! Finished with tulle at the hem of the skirt it keeps the gown bridal, but with a twist.

I love working with clients who want to support Canadian designers when shopping for their bridal gown. No matter what your style, whether it is a traditional white gown or if you are looking for something with a twist, every bride deserves to look her best on her wedding day and I can help!

Brittany from Gloss Events and Decor, put this all together!
